Place of Lithuanian partisan fighting and death (Smališkės village)

On May 4, 1948, in a battle with a unit of the MGB Chekist army in Gerviškės village, the following partisans of the Grand Duke Vytenis’ Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytenis’s Fatherland of the Dainava District Šarūnas platoon were killed: the leader of the 1st detachment, Antanas Radžiukynas-Nevėžis, born in 1919 in Leipalingis, present-day Lithuania, died. Unit leader Jonas Leščinskas-Skroblas, born in 1919 in Neliubonys village, present-day Lithuania. Lazdijai r., unit commander Albinas Ramanavičius-Balandis, born 1921 in Kučiūnai k., now in Lazdijai r. 1921, Kučiūnai, Lazdijai district.
