Reproductions of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Paintings: 1. Sonata II (Sonata of the Spring. Andante), 1907 2. Sonata II (Spring Sonata. Allegro), 1907

Čiurlionis created seven painted sonatas. In one compositional sonata and series based on rhythm dynamics (Allegro, Andante, Scherzo, Finale), Čiurlionis combined realistic motifs from reality with different spatial planes and moments of time, as well as contrasting symbolic images.

The composition of Čiurlionis’ Sonata of the Spring Andante is painted using a greenish-blue colour with brown and pink shades. In the centre of the painting is a windmill on a large mountain of cloud that dominates the composition, whose wings diagonally divide the whole area of the painting into four parts. The ends of the wings from even larger windmill protrude from the top right, indicating the presence of even larger structures.
